Operatives of the Safer Highways patrol team have intercepted a suspected cultist, identified as Kinsley Odoh, along the Ife-Ibadan Road while allegedly travelling to the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, to avenge his brother’s death.
Odoh was reportedly apprehended during a routine stop-and-search operation involving a commercial vehicle by operatives conducting security checks along the highway.
During the operation, a pistol was allegedly recovered from the suspect. He reportedly told the operatives that he bought the firearm from a friend.
Preliminary information indicates that Odoh, who was said to have travelled from Anambra State, was heading to Ile-Ife over the death of his brother, allegedly with the intention of seeking revenge.
The interception highlights the importance of highway patrols and routine security checks in detecting suspected criminal activities and preventing potential acts of violence.
However, further details concerning the circumstances of the suspect’s brother’s death, the alleged revenge plan, the source of the firearm and the next steps in the investigation remain unclear.
The suspect’s alleged involvement in criminal activity has not been established by a court of law. Further confirmation from the relevant police authorities is necessary as investigations continue.
