The Edo State Deputy Governor, Dennis Idahosa, has said the security measures implemented by Governor Monday Okpebholo’s administration are contributing to economic growth and improving investor confidence in the state.

Idahosa stated this while representing the governor at a business event in Benin City, where he assured investors that Edo State was becoming a safer environment for businesses and investments.

According to the deputy governor, the administration has prioritised security because sustainable economic development cannot be achieved in an environment where lives, property and investments are at risk.

He said the government had intensified efforts to tackle insecurity, cultism and other forms of violent crime across the state, with the objective of creating a conducive environment for businesses to thrive.

Idahosa noted that improved security would encourage more investors to establish businesses in Edo, potentially creating employment opportunities and expanding economic activities.

He also stressed the importance of collaboration between the government and private sector, saying such partnerships would help strengthen the state’s investment environment and accelerate development.

The deputy governor's comments came amid renewed efforts by the Okpebholo administration to position security as a key component of its economic development strategy.

Business stakeholders at the event also highlighted investment opportunities in Edo State, particularly in sectors including automobiles, financial services, luxury vehicles and human capital development.

The state government has continued to encourage investors to take advantage of the opportunities available in Edo while assuring them of its commitment to providing a secure and business-friendly environment.
