LAGOS, NIGERIA — Raheem Okoya, popularly known as Sir Raheem, and son of billionaire industrialist Razaq Okoya, has announced his professional exit from the music industry.

Sir Raheem made the announcement on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, in an open letter shared on social media, explaining that his growing commitments had made it increasingly difficult for him to dedicate the required time, patience and effort to his music career.

Reflecting on his journey, the singer said music initially started as a hobby he pursued with his friends for bonding and connection before gradually developing into a serious career. He said the experience had given him memorable performances, recognition and opportunities to connect with artistes he had admired while growing up.

According to him, balancing music with his other responsibilities over the past year had become increasingly challenging. He said he had always believed in giving his best to everything he undertook and had therefore decided to leave the industry professionally rather than continue without giving his craft the commitment it deserved.

Sir Raheem, however, stressed that his decision does not represent the end of his creative journey. He said he intends to explore other creative fields and ventures, while leaving open the possibility of releasing music in the future.

The singer revealed that he has recorded what he considers some of the best material of his career over the past year. He said his unreleased album could still find its way to the public someday, adding that music remains therapeutic for him.

Sir Raheem also expressed appreciation to his fans, colleagues and supporters who contributed to his musical journey. He described his time in the industry as a memorable experience and said he remains optimistic about the future.

The 23-year-old is also an executive director at Eleganza Industrial City Limited, a company owned by his father. Earlier in 2026, he disclosed that he had been learning and working alongside his father for years as he prepared for greater responsibilities within the family business.

His latest announcement marks a major shift in his professional career, although his comments suggest that his departure from music may not necessarily be permanent.
