A political realignment occurred in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State on Monday as Mrs. Ige Mojirade, a long-serving office manager to federal lawmaker Hon. Wole Oke, resigned her membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and declared support for Governor Ademola Adeleke.

Mrs. Ige, who served as office manager to Hon. Wole Oke, the Director-General of the APC Campaign Council for the 2026 Osun governorship election, for nearly two decades, announced her decision during a meeting with political leaders in the local government.

She was received by the member representing Obokun State Constituency in the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Adewumi Adeyemi (Irekandu), and the Chairman of Obokun Local Government, Pastor Agboola Jiire.

Speaking at the meeting, Mrs. Ige recounted her experiences in the APC and disclosed that several months of her salary remained unpaid. Following her remarks, Hon. Adewumi Adeyemi reportedly settled the outstanding salary arrears and assured her that her years of service would be recognised and appreciated.

An emotional Mrs. Ige expressed gratitude for the support extended to her and pledged her commitment to the political movement backing Governor Adeleke.

She further alleged that dissatisfaction among some APC members had contributed to the growing wave of defections being recorded across parts of Osun State.

Welcoming her into the fold, Pastor Agboola Jiire described the development as a reflection of what he termed increasing support for Governor Adeleke's administration. He assured her of equal opportunities and encouraged other residents interested in the state's development to participate actively in the democratic process.

Also speaking, Hon. Adewumi Adeyemi said the defection reflected the confidence some residents and political stakeholders have in the current administration. According to him, Governor Adeleke's policies and programmes have continued to attract support across political divides.

The lawmaker urged individuals who share similar aspirations for the development of Osun State to engage constructively in the political process and contribute to the state's growth.

Mrs. Ige, however, pledged to support Governor Adeleke's re-election bid and work towards what she described as the continued progress of Osun State.
