OSOGBO — The Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has signed the Osun State Park Management Bill into law, paving the way for a new framework for the management and operation of motor parks across the state.

The governor signed the bill on Monday at the Government House in Osogbo, describing the legislation as a major step towards addressing the longstanding challenges affecting the state’s transport park system.

Adeleke commended the Osun State House of Assembly for what he described as its proactive approach to addressing issues affecting residents and the transport sector.

According to the governor, he reviewed the bill as passed by the lawmakers and was convinced that it provides a practical solution to the recurring crises and challenges in the management of transportation parks across the state.

> “Having signed this bill into law, I assure all stakeholders that implementation will commence in earnest. In line with the law, we will ensure that Osun people and other interests are accommodated for efficient service delivery across the state,” Adeleke said.

The governor said the implementation of the new law would usher in a modernised park management system and improve the experience of both commuters and transport operators.

Earlier, the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, said the legislature followed its standing rules in processing and passing the bill.

Egbedun said the new law addresses several concerns surrounding the management of motor parks in the state, adding that it was designed to provide answers to questions that have been raised by residents over the years.

He also noted that the legislation incorporates sustainable transport practices as part of efforts to improve the state's transportation system.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi; Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Teslim Igbalaye; Head of Service, Elder Ayanleye Aina; members of the State Executive Council and other senior government officials.

The new law is expected to guide the administration, regulation and development of motor parks across Osun State as the government moves to commence its implementation.
