The Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has denied reports by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) suggesting that the party supported his re-election, saying there was no electoral deal or partnership between his administration and the ADC before, during or after the governorship election.

The governor, in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, said his re-election was made possible by God and the people of Osun State, while acknowledging the contributions of political partners who supported his campaign.

Adeleke clarified that the ADC was not part of the political coalition that canvassed support for his re-election in last Saturday’s governorship election.

“I commend political partners who went all out to make Saturday a victory day for all Osun people. But we must clarify for the sake of history that ADC was never part of the alliance,” the governor said.

He also thanked those who made sacrifices toward the success of his re-election bid, describing the outcome as a victory for the people of Osun State.

Adeleke further declared that, having concluded the election, he would govern all residents of the state irrespective of their political affiliations, religious beliefs or ethnic backgrounds.

“Now that the election is over, I am a governor of all Osun people irrespective of political groups, religion or race,” he said.

The governor’s clarification comes amid claims by the ADC regarding its alleged role in the outcome of the Osun governorship election.
