ABUJA - Former First Lady Aisha Buhari has paid a visit to former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar at his residence in Abuja.

Atiku disclosed the visit in a post on his social media platforms on Wednesday, describing the meeting with the widow of former President Muhammadu Buhari as “warm and deeply appreciated.”

The former Vice-President, who is the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2027 general election, did not disclose the specific purpose or details of his discussion with Aisha Buhari.

However, he said the visit served as a reminder of the responsibility facing those seeking to lead Nigeria, particularly the need to prioritise the welfare, dignity and future of citizens.

Atiku also used the occasion to highlight the economic pressures facing Nigerian households, citing the rising cost of food, transportation, education, healthcare and other basic necessities.

According to him, Nigerians deserve an economy that rewards hard work, restores opportunities and enables families to live with dignity and hope.

“That is the Nigeria we must build together, a country that works for its people again,” Atiku said, adding that the country must ease the burden on households, restore hope and “Make Nigeria Affordable Again.”

Aisha Buhari was accompanied by one of her daughters and some associates during the visit.

The meeting has attracted public attention coming at a time when political activities are intensifying ahead of the 2027 general elections. However, neither Aisha Buhari nor Atiku has publicly stated that the visit was connected to any political arrangement or alliance.

The latest meeting follows an earlier encounter between Aisha Buhari and Atiku in Saudi Arabia in February 2026, when she visited the former Vice-President alongside her daughter Hanan and other members of the Buhari family while both families were in the Kingdom for Umrah.
